Welcome to our new NeWTs Karen, Ashley, Sandra, Jack, and Andrea. We look forward to seeing you out on lots of walks soon!
On Sunday 13 October we were joined by Parks and Pathways Nordic Walking for a fairly dry walk from Chadderton Hall Park. The walk took us along the Rochdale canal to Slattocks, then a gentle (but long!) uphill along quiet country lanes to Tandlehills Country Park, Oldham’s oldest country park. We enjoyed some spectacular far-reaching views across the Manchester plains as far as Fiddler’s Ferry, Warrington, before making our way back through Tandlehills 48 hectares of parkland with mature beech, mixed woodland and grassland, and along lanes to Chadderton Hall Park! Everyone had a very enjoyable morning, and we treated ourselves to a delicious lunch at The Rose of Lancaster pub which is well worth a visit! We’re hoping for a return visit in the New Year and we’ll announce details as soon as we have them.
Unfortunately the weather turned bad again for our longer Mossley walk at the end of the month, but well done to Dave, Anita, Ali & Ian for turning up! The views from Mossley Cross were actually quite good considering the rain, and we even managed to find some previously unknown waterfalls in Stalybridge, but it was definitely a very soggy walk!
We rounded out the month with our spook-tacular Halloween Hike! Congratulations to Sue who won our costume competition!
